Know why pins became synonymous with the punk scene? It’s actually a rad story.

A young Malcolm McLaren traveled to New York working as a fashion designer with Vivienne Westwood back before Viv was super famous.

The punk music scene was in its infancy at the time, and Malcolm was a huge fan.

While in NY, Malcolm checked out a few shows - one of which early punk musician, Richard Hell, (later of Television) performed. Hell was known for wearing spiked dog collars, nail polish, and ripped clothes pinned back together with tons of safety pins.

Thinking the pins were rad and edgy, McLaren headed back to his shop in London and began selling ripped, safety pinned clothes. Then later he went on to become the manager of the Sex Pistols.

Pay homage to true punk culture and add this to your cart!

NOTE: These little shirts are made to order, so it takes 2-5 business days (Monday - Friday) to produce them for you before they are shipped.
